analysis: poster analysis with semiotic theory

 

This poster is from IT. The poster used the semiotic codes, by having a red balloon, a hand holding a balloon,  yellow rain coat and the use of the fronts.

First in the central of the image of the poster you can see a red balloon but it have give audience polysemic that could represent joy, celebration, or a sense of childlike wonder but in the poster  have there is a kid standing infront of the clown connotate the clown is  attempting the kid to take it .The red colour of the balloon connotate often associated with blood, danger, and intensity. Also the reflection of the balloon can see the clown face give us a spooky or scary feeling, that may connotate the kid only see the balloon but did not see the danger behind the balloon

Second, the kid who are wearing a yellow raincoat that connotate the setting of this horror film is in rain or is have a connection to the water, also the raincoat look like a compression to the red balloon. The small size of the raincoat and the background give the red and yellow colour very shape in the poster, connotate the kid was walking towards the dark or the danger infront of him.

The Mise en sence of the lighting also help the poster move to another level. The lowkey lighting help the centre image bring up the main focus. The lighting on the kid and some lighting on the hand to connote someone is going to do something to the kid if the kid take the balloon. The lighting on the floor show the water puddle give the street vibe that the street lamp is on top oof the kid.
